Tesla CEO Tweets Dogecoin Memes & the Rally Continues
Notorious Tesla CEO Elon Must has been known to be a fan of cryptocurrencies. Some have even speculated that he is the notorious Satoshi Nakamoto due to Musk's involvement in founding Paypal. Just a few hours ago, Musk took to twitter to announce his favorite cryptocurrency, Dogecoin.
Yes, it appears that Musk's so-called favorite cryptocurrency is Dogecoin, which initially started as a joke. Musk changed his Twitter description to "Former CEO of Dogecoin" and posted a meme and article by satirical news site, the Onion. Along with the memes he posted short messages such as "Dogecoin rulz" and "Dogecoin value may vary". One last change was his profile pic to a rocket, which might elude to the "to the moon" meme or possibly his other company, SpaceX.
Co-founder of Dogecoin, Jackson Palmer responded to Musk in what might be seen as a "salty post". In a tweet he took a dig at Musk.
"Am considering selling http://Dogecoin.com for $4.20B. Funding (not yet) secured."
This is of course a reference to Musk's tweet that landed him in a lot of hot water with the SEC.
"Am considering taking Tesla private at $420. Funding secured."
Dogecoin's Amazing Rally
So far Dogecoin has been outperforming most other cryptocurrencies. It gained 24.63% during the past 24 hours. In comparison, Bitcoin only grew 6.13%. The best performing coin was Bitcoin Cash, with an impressive 39.94% gain in the past 24 hours.
It is completely possible that a few tweets may have pushed the rally further. Musk has over 25M followers on Twitter alone and many fans across the world.
Either way the new memes that popped up as result of this are amazing.
