Will Pulte Become A Bitcoin Cheerleader?
In recent years many famous millionaires and billionaires have advocated for Bitcoin. This includes former PayPal founder & CEO of Tesla Elon Musk and Twitter's Jack Dorsey. Outside of Silicon Valley's tech circles, Overstock.com's former CEO, Patrick M. Byrne & WikiLeaks's Julian Assange have recommended the currency.
Earlier this year it was reported that the NFL's Oren Burks and Russel Okung were seeking payment in Bitcoin. This is not the first time that high profile athletes were seeking compensation in the form of cryptocurrency.
Bitcoin's Latest Champion: Bill Pulte
Known philanthropist & heir to the PulteGroup fortune, Bill Pulte has become Bitcoin's latest billionaire fan. Pulte recently announced his purchase of Bitcoin on Twitter.
I recently bought 11 bitcoins— Bill Pulte (@pulte) December 12, 2019
Pulte later elaborated on why he bough bitcoin and why he believes in its technology. He claimed: "Cryptocurrency can help the world's poorest...especially those who are "unbanked" ... as a philanthropist, I therefore want to promote adoption."
In subsequent tweets, Pulte later claimed airdrops and giveaways on social media were one of the best ways to advance adoption. Afterwards, Pulte apparently gave away a fraction of his Bitcoin on Twitter & said he'd be promoting cryptocurrencies on social media. He additionally mentioned that fearing scams is stifling innovation in the world of cryptocurrencies.
Recently some crypto-sceptic personalities have made U-turns on Bitcoin. This includes Mark Cuban who revealed he has a small holding of Bitcoin. While Cuban said that Bitcoin is not a currency, it could become a valuable collectable like gold.
The biggest question is who will be the next major name to get behind Bitcoin.
