Warren Buffet Seemingly Contradicts Justin Suns Version of Events
The charity dinner between TRON's founder Justin Sun and well-known investor Warren Buffet was widely discussed. The event was initially delayed by Justin Sun due to kidney stones but it took place a few months later in early February. The dinner was attended by a few other big names in the world of cryptocurrency who joined as Sun's guests. This included eToro's Yoni Assia, the CFO of Huobi, Chris Lee, Helen Hai, the head of the Binance Charity Foundation, Charlie Lee the founder of Litecoin.
Sun's Version of His Dinner with Buffet
Following Justin Sun's dinner with Buffet, he tweeted out a blog post and thanked Buffet for sharing his vision of the future and praised his wisdom. Additionally he promised to make TRON a better blockchain ecosystem.
Thank you @WarrenBuffett for your wisdom and for sharing your vision of the future.â Justin Sun (@justinsuntron) February 8, 2020
Iâll always remember your kindness& support, and will take your advice& guidance to make #TRON a better ecosystem with all the partners in #blockchain space and beyond.#TRX https://t.co/h7umJxX7Qn
In the blog post Justin Sun mentioned giving Buffet several gifts. This included a horse figurine, as they were both born on year of the horse, TRON memorabilia, a copy of his book and a Samsung Galaxy Fold 2. As per Sun's blog post, the Samsung Fold 2 had a cryptocurrency wallet installed containing 1 Bitcoin, 1,930,830 TRX, 100 BTT, 100 WIN, and 100 TRC20-USDT.
In the blog post Sun enthusiastically claimed:
"The number of TRX matches Mr. Buffettâs birthday, and yes, now Mr. Buffett holds Bitcoin!"
The blog post also contained Buffet's alleged cryptocurrency addresses.
Additionally Sun claimed that Warren Buffet saw one of the transactions and was shocked by the speed of the transfer. Sun also claimed that Buffet praised blockchain technology and it has value and will be disruptive.
"One of the most memorable experiences during dinner was when I demonstrated to Mr. Buffett how to use TRON for transferring tokens through the Samsung Galaxy Fold I gave him. 45.67888 TRX was instantly transferred. This transaction amount mirrors the winning auction amount of 4,567,888 USD that was donated to the Glide Foundation for Mr. Buffett and myself to meet.
Upon witnessing the completion of the transfer, Mr. Buffett was delighted and said blockchain has its value. He remarked that there are a lot of incredible companies in the payment space, and it has huge demands. Mr. Buffett went on to say that blockchain technology will have a disruptive effect on the future of payments."
Buffet Responds on CNBC's Squawkbox
Earlier today Warren Buffet appeared as a guest on CNBC's financial news show Squawkbox. There he discussed a wide variety of topics including politics, index funds, banks and later eventually Bitcoin.
Buffet was asked if Justin Sun changed his mind regarding cryptocurrencies. He said that the dinner was a very friendly exchange of ideas but cryptocurrencies basically have no value. They don't produce anything and "it can't mail you a check". He later elaborated that the only thing you can do with cryptocurrencies is hope that someone will buy it back at greater value and then that person has the problem. Buffet also claimed that Sun didn't change his mind regarding cryptocurrencies but he didn't change Sun's mind either.
Warren Buffet later asked: He gave you some Bitcoin, what's it like being a Bitcoin owner? To which Buffet said "I don't own any cryptocurrency. I never will," while chuckling.
Buffet claims to not own any cryptocurrency while Sun Claims on giving him quite a hefty sum in various different cryptocurrencies. This leads to a direct contradiction between Justin Sun and Warren Buffet. The biggest question now is who controls the cryptocurrency wallets listed above.
We've reached out to Justin Sun for a comment but have yet to receive a reply.
